Former Gardena Insurance Agent Arrested for Insurance Fraud
Earlier this year, Myles Seishin Hanashiro, an insurance agent from the city of Gardena, was arrested on four felony counts of financial elder abuse. He was suspected of selling a $100,000 life insurance policy to his elderly aunt, who resides in Gardena, according to the investigator on the case. Between April 2009 and 2010, he was suspected of forging his aunt’s signature and made four withdrawals from her policy that was worth about $110,000. Investigators say that Hanashiro’s license has been expired since September 2009. His aunt discovered that money was being taken from her policy and found out that Hanashiro changed the contact information on her policy to his own phone and residence so she would not find out. Hanashiro was held on $200,000 bail and was arraigned the next coupld of days in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to Los Angeles County Jail records.
